Wowza, peeps: it’s September and I can’t quite believe it, as this is the month Salty Cheesy Herby Crispy Snackable Bakes hits shelves - on September 24th to be exact (!!!) So, if pre-ordering cookbooks (which just so happens to help out authors in a huge way) is your jam, please consider doing so. And you can get a signed copy of Salty Cheesy here and here, if that sounds festive and fun to you (and I hope it does). And if you do preorder, please send me a copy of your receipt so i can gift you three fab recipes from the book, including the FAN favorite, cheesy old-bay Butterswim Biscuits (pictured below).
Moreover, if hearing about the inner-workings of the making of Salty Cheesy (aka the behind the scenes intel) sounds interesting, please consider subscribing to my paid letter, which focuses on just that.
Plus, I share an exclusive recipe from the book with you in every one of my paid letters . . . and plus I give you so much interesting info about book writing in general; and salty cheesy writing in particular, that I think you will be very pleased.
Obviously the book writing itself is over, but the promotion/pre-launch phase is a doozy of a time, I won’t lie. I mean I love it. But it is also stressful. We’re working hard to set up a really great book tour right now that allows me to meet so many of you in so many different places and I will be sharing all the info and logistics of all that soon. And I’m continuing to do fun collabs with pals to help promote the book, like this one I did with my pal Dan (aka Grossy Pelosi).
We made the hot pepper jelly and cream cheese stuffed muffins from Salty Cheesy and I think Dan was into them.
Recipes!
Corner Store Oatmeal Cookies with Potato Chips, M&Ms and . . . Prunes!!!
Prunes are literally my favorite dried fruit and they are super good for you and super delish and when you chop them up and put them in an oatmeal cookie filled with treats you might find at the corner store (like chips and candy), you are in for a real treat. Check out the recipe here.
In addition to cookies that you bake, I wanted to share a cookie that you microwave . . . this is my microwave chocolate chip cookie and it is epically deelish and I think you will love it AND it is crazy easy to make (duh). Check out the recipe here.
Finally, how about a chocolate peanut butter no-bake pie for an early fall treat? This cutie is made entirely in the food processor. It has a chocolate cookie crust, a creamy, salty, peanut butter filling and an optional (but highly encouraged) chocolate whipped cream. Make now, please and/or watch me make it here. The recipe is here.
On This Week’s Episode of She’s My Cherry Pie . . .
In other news, I had the pleasure of interviewing Sarah Fennel of Broma Bakery for the pod this last week and we had the best chat - and talked all about her new book, Sweet Tooth, hitting shelves soon; and her pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting and caramel . . . yum.
Have you watched?
So, I was really into season one of Your Honor, and even if I didn't love every episode of season two, I still think it is 100% worth watching. This legal thriller involves a “high stakes” hit and run, involving “lies, deceit and impossible choices” and I was on board for all of it.
Have you read . . .
Although it has been a hot minute since I read it, I really loved Tom Lake by Ann Patchett. The story takes place during the pandemic in Northern Michigan, but there are loads of flashbacks, spanning many years. The book is about “youthful love, married love, and the lives parents have led before their children were born” and I was totally into it.
Have you listened?
So, I’ve been listening to the White Devil over the last few weeks and I am into it and would 100% recommend. The pod explores a shocking death in a tropical paradise and goes deep into the life of a super powerful family and British business titan, Lord Michael Ashcroft.
Alrighty, thanks as always for subscribing and reading and see you in 2 weeks.
Jessie! I just preordered!! What is the best way to send you the receipt?? I have been drooling over the idea of the butter swim biscuits forever and can’t wait to try them!! Your first Snackable Bakes book is pretty much a perfect book, I am so excited for the savory version!
I love your reading recs. I LOVED Such a Fun Age, and, incidentally, I am currently reading Tom Lake and am loving it. So excited for your latest book to arrive!!
