A Newsy Letter All About (Genius) Snickerdoodles, No-Bake Orange Creamsicle Pie, And Mexican Hot Chocolate Pudding Cake
Hello, peeps. It’s another newsy letter for you, in which I share some recent recipes, and also a little news. So here we go: Snackable Bakes (my new easy-peasy baking book, in case you missed the memo), is doing just grand. If you’d like to hear me discuss it, you can do so here, over on the Talking with my Mouth Full podcast; or, here, over on WNYC’s All of It With Alison Stewart – WNYC is the local NPR station in NYC (and honestly, as a long time New Yorker, being on the station was an absolute dream come true).
I was also at the Union Square Green Market this past Saturday, signing copies of Snackable Bakes and sharing mini raspberry cupcakes that I made, riffing off of the Strawberry Sheet Cake recipe from the book and it was also pretty dreamy.
But you want to know what might be the dreamiest thing of all? Kristen Miglore, from Food52, deemed my “Epic Snickerdoodles for Stephanie” from Snackable Bakes, a “genius” recipe – and you can listen to why they are so genius here. Or, you can watch what makes them so genius, here. It has always been a professional goal of mine to have a Food52 “genius” recipe, and this was so super exciting to have it happen with these snickerdoodles that are not only delicious but – incidentally – the easiest you’ll ever make (no stand mixer, etc. – just a bowl and a spoon . . .).
And speaking of Food52, and another dreamy opportunity for Snackable Bakes, my recipe for No-Bake Orange Creamsicle Pie was featured (as was I!) in an episode of Food52’s You Tube series, “Cook and a Half” with Samantha Seneviratne. I love Sam (and her on, Artie, who is also in the show) and it was such a thrill to bake (or “no-bake”) with her. Also, the pie has a pretzel crust and if you have never made a pretzel crust before, boy oh boy, are you ever in for a treat.
Finally, the recipe for a truly scrumptious, slightly spicy hot chocolate pudding pie from Snackable Bakes, that an Instagram follower of mine recently described as “lava-cake-like” (which is an excellent description of a hot fudge pudding cake if ever I did hear one) is up on Leite’s Culinaria and I think you should check it out stat.
And finally, finally, there is a GIVEAWAY (aka an opportunity to win a free copy of Snackable Bakes)! I am joining forces with my dear pal, Nato (of Ciao Gloria fame) and you can read all about how to join here. You do have to be on Instgram in order to do so, so sorry about that in advance. Also, if you live in NYC and would like to hang out with me at Ciao Gloria, please join me on Saturday, July 16th from 12:30 to 2:30 – we can eat slices of the Simplest Lattice(less) Linzer Torte from Snackable Bakes and chat, kk?
And that’s it peeps. See you in a couple . . .
